Purpose: The Level 2 Certificate in Mental Health and Addiction Counseling builds upon the foundational knowledge, skills and abilities of mental health and addiction counseling competencies by streamlining the process toward the Associate of Applied Science in Mental Health and Addiction Counseling, which is required for the Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) status in Texas. The certificate facilitates advanced practicum placements for students with Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor intern status (LCDC-I) so they can start the process toward the 4,000 hours needed for LCDC status.

Program Requirements: Students can work toward the required 4,000 hours needed for Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) status. Please note that the completion of the Associate of Applied Science degree in Mental Health and Addiction Counseling is required for full licensure.
