Study of personality development, human needs, common mental mechanisms, and factors influencing mental health and mental illness. Includes common mental disorders and related therapy. End-of-Course Outcomes: The student will identify the characteristics of mental health; identify common mental illness and maladaptive behaviors; describe trends in psychotherapeutic treatment; discuss the application of therapeutic communication skills; and assist in the formulation of a plan of care for the individual with mental illness or maladaptive behavior.
