Students will study the background and applications of quality concepts. Topics include team skills, quality tools, statistics, economics and continuous improvements. This course includes advanced quality techniques employed by industry to remain competitive in today’s global economy. The widespread use of statistical techniques is stressed. Students learn principles of data handling, plotting, flow charting, histograms, standard deviation, control charts, cause and effect diagrams, etc. Principles of economics, as they affect unit, plant and corporate realizations are explored to give the student a foundation in the factors which affect business profitability. Team activities are a fundamental part of this course. This course is only offered on-line via MyBlackboard. Access to high-speed Internet is recommended.
