This course teaches students the basic principles of physics and their application in process facilities. Included are: fundamental units of measurement related to length, time, mass, pressure, temperature, flow, and level. The properties of solids, liquids, gases, and flowing fluids are reviewed with emphasis placed on how these properties relate to the operation of process equipment. Students are introduced to the gas laws, principles of heat transfer, sensible and latent heat electricity and magnetism.
